On Sunday, our supper was rudely interrupted by a 4.7 magnitude earthquake. Epicentre was Lennox, about 5 miles away from where I live.
This afternoon, I was startled to be in another earthquake, albeit a tiny 4.1 magnitude scale… Though, I actually felt the aftershock, this time, too.
The USGS has some pretty quick updates on earthquakes; and not just in California but the rest of the world. Speaking of USGS, they have a truck camped/stationed in the park on 19oth and Hawthorne. The truck’s been there for at least 2 weeks now… I wonder what they’re researching over there. Hmmm.
Oh, more earthquake tidbits, courtesy of the USGS website:
The May 19, 1940 earthquake in southern California, magnitude 7.1, caused a horizontal land movement that displaced the international boundary, between the United States and Mexico, a few feet.
Here’s to hoping I never experience a 7.1 magnitude quake in my lifetime! >_<
