Ok, so I’ve already slacked a bit with regards to posting my training activities and it’s only already been a day three days since I pledged to myself that I’ll be more “digilant” about it. Unfortunately, I’m doing this now (on an iPhone even, using the WordPress app on my netbook as I get ready for bed) because of something I really need to make a note of. But first thing’s first and I shall go in chronological order:
Monday (2nd August)
Rest day! I was off the hook for this one
Tuesday (3rd August)
Speedwork. Breh… I ended up doing a mile (only!) because I started late and it was getting too dark and I didn’t Want to stay too long in the park.
Wednesday (4th August)
Easy run. Another breh! I ended up doing 25mins of P90x — the back and biceps routine. The dinner appointment got moved to an hour earlier, so I didn’t have time to run and get ready.
Thursday (5th August)
35 min Tempo. Well, I got a trifecta of missed runs — I foolishly gave myself the reward (a single-serve, Dreyer’s ice cream cup) before my workout. So I got lazy afterwards and worked out in our home “gym” instead: 15 min spinning (effort: 4/5) and 15 min of abs, leg lifts, crunches and push-ups (effort: 3/5).
Friday (Today two hours ago)
Rest day. I’m glad I’m actually following the prescribed item on the training timetable, which is for much needed rest! And it’s good that I took it easy today because… I have been feeling this small but niggly pain foot pain.
It’s on the left foot and specifically, my left-most metatarsal bones. I think I tweaked it that night that I did a one-miler and in my haste (because I kinda didn’t feel safe in the area), I must have landed incorrectly as I was descending this small ramp. Then again, now as I think more about it, I believe I was already feeling something slightly wrong with my left foot and the improper landing added to something that might have already been injured.
Ugh. Just what I need! Tomorrow, I need to do 10 miles but I’m definitely skipping that. I might do a 10-mile bike-ride, though and then see how I feel on Sunday. I’m just hoping this is nothing too serious that will need another 3 weeks of non-impact recovery 🙁
