No London in 2011, chance of Los Angeles 80%

Well, I finally received it — the rejection notice from the Race Director of the Virgin London Marathon 2011. After a few odd months of waiting I finally know that I won’t be part of the London Marathon in 2011. I’m really not bothered, though, since I knew it’d be a long-shot to get in, but I wanted to share the short (and generic) email, anyway:

Dear Runner,

We regret that we have to advise you that your application to run in the 2011 Virgin London Marathon has not been successful due to massive over-subscription.

However, if you still wish to run please click on the link below where there is a list of tour operators in your country who may be able to help you enter the 2011 Virgin London Marathon.

Yours Sincerely

David Bedford
Race Director

Anyway, with that out of the way, sometime in November I’ll be planning my running events for 2011. Since I told myself that last summer’s Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego would be my final SD race, I’m thinking of doing the Los Angeles Marathon (for the second time evar) next year, and perhaps, make that my yearly “must do” marathon. I just wish the LA Marathon next year would have a better race expo! That’s probably the biggest thing I’ll miss about the SD marathon — the awesome (and I mean awesome) race expo. Mmmm… Freebies… ^_^

Oh, depending on how I do after this weekend’s Hermosa Beach Triathlon (i.e., don’t drown!), I’m hoping that around November, I won’t just be scheduling some running events but triathlon ones, as well. And maybe do a 10k barefoot… We shall see!
